Consumer unit upgrades for homes
A selection of the consumer unit upgrades we carry out for homes, replacing old fuse boards with modern, RCD protected units that are tidy, labelled and fully certified.
The brief.
Many of the homes we visit still have an old fuse board, or a consumer unit with no RCD protection at all. Replacing it is one of the most effective safety upgrades a home can have. These photos show a few of the boards we have fitted for homeowners and landlords, each one planned around the circuits in the property and finished to the same standard.
What we did.
- Removed old fuse boards and outdated consumer units
- Fitted new metal clad consumer units with RCD protection on every circuit
- Split load and dual RCD layouts, so a single fault does not take out the whole house
- Surge protection where needed, to protect modern electronics
- Checked and upgraded main earthing and bonding to gas and water
- Every circuit tested, clearly labelled and recorded on an Electrical Installation Certificate
- Building control notified through our NICEIC registration
The result.
Safer homes with modern protection, boards that are easy to understand when something trips, and the certificates homeowners and landlords need for insurance, sales and compliance.
