Emergency lighting, installed and tested.
Emergency lighting that keeps escape routes lit when the power fails. Installation, upgrades and the regular testing your building needs.
When the lights go out.
If the power fails, people need to be able to see their way out. Emergency lighting lights escape routes, exits, stairs and open areas, and shows where the fire alarm call points and firefighting equipment are.
Under fire safety law, the responsible person for a non domestic building must make sure emergency lighting is in place where needed and properly maintained. We install it, test it and keep the records you need.

What's included.
Installation
Escape route, open area and high risk task lighting to BS 5266.
Upgrades
Old fittings replaced with efficient LED and self test units.
Monthly tests
Short function tests to check every fitting comes on.
Annual tests
Full duration tests, usually three hours, to prove the batteries.
Logbooks
Records of every test, ready for your fire risk assessment.
Repairs
Failed batteries, lamps and fittings replaced.

Testing that fits around you.
British Standard BS 5266 recommends a short function test every month and a full duration test every year. A full duration test drains the batteries, so the building is less protected for a while afterwards. We plan it for a time when the building is quiet, or test in stages.
Each visit is recorded in your logbook, and any failed fittings are reported with a price to put them right.
Accredited and approved.
NICEIC Approved Contractor, SafeContractor approved, and ECS-carded electricians on every job.

Questions about emergency lighting.
How often should emergency lighting be tested?
BS 5266 recommends a brief function test every month and a full duration test once a year, with every test recorded.
Who is responsible for emergency lighting?
The responsible person for the building under fire safety law, usually the employer, owner or occupier.
Can you take over testing from another contractor?
Yes. We will review your existing logbook and fittings and carry on from there.
Are self test fittings worth it?
They test themselves and show a fault indicator, which reduces the time spent on monthly checks. They suit many buildings, but not all.
