A clean white ceiling in a bright room

Extractor fan installation.

Bathroom, kitchen and utility room extractor fans that actually clear the steam. Timer and humidity controlled fans, wired safely and tested.

Clear the steam, stop the mould.

Condensation and mould in bathrooms and kitchens are usually a ventilation problem. A fan that is too small, too noisy to leave on, or switched off with the light simply does not move enough damp air out of the room.

We replace tired fans and install new ones, choose a model that suits the room, and wire it so it runs for long enough to do its job. Humidity sensing fans switch themselves on when they are needed, so nobody has to remember.

Signs you need a better fan

  • Mould on ceilings, sealant or window frames
  • Mirrors and windows that stay steamed up
  • A fan that is noisy, slow or has stopped
  • No fan at all in a bathroom or kitchen
  • Damp or musty smells in a utility room
  • Condensation flagged by a landlord or letting agent

What's included.

Fan replacement

Old or failed fans swapped for quieter, more effective models.

New installations

Fans fitted through walls, windows or ceilings with ducting to outside.

Timer overrun

Fans that keep running after the light goes off to clear the air.

Humidity sensing

Fans that switch on automatically when the room gets damp.

Bathroom zones

Fans and isolators rated for where they sit in the bathroom.

Tested and certified

A certificate for the work, with building control notified where required.

Choosing the right fan.

The right fan depends on the size of the room, how far the air has to travel to get outside and whether the room has a window. Inline fans in the loft can be quieter and more powerful for bathrooms and en suites without an outside wall.

Where a fan needs a new hole through a wall or a duct run through the loft, we plan the route with you first. Making good around the new grille is included, and we leave the room clean.

Questions about extractor fans.

Can you replace my existing fan with a better one?

Yes. Most replacements can use the existing wiring and duct, though a more powerful fan may need a larger duct or a new control.

What is a humidity sensing fan?

A fan with a built in sensor that switches on when the air gets damp and off once it clears, so it runs only when needed.

Can you fit a fan in a bathroom with no outside wall?

Usually, yes. An inline fan in the loft or ceiling void with ducting to outside is a common solution.

Will an extractor fan cure my mould?

A properly sized and controlled fan removes the moisture that causes most mould. Existing mould still needs cleaning, and very damp homes may need wider advice.
