House rewiring, planned around you.
Full and partial rewires for older homes, extensions and renovations across Kent and South East London. Clear quotes, tidy work and full certification.
Is it time for a rewire?
Most wiring is designed to last decades, but not forever. Homes that still have rubber or fabric insulated cable, an old fuse box with no RCD protection, or a patchwork of DIY additions are the ones we see most often needing a rewire.
A rewire is also the right moment to put sockets, lighting and data where you actually need them, rather than where someone guessed forty years ago. We plan the new layout with you before a single floorboard comes up.
Signs your home may need rewiring
- Old fuse box with rewireable fuses and no RCD protection
- Rubber, fabric or lead sheathed cables
- Round pin sockets or sockets on skirting boards
- Lights that flicker or breakers that trip regularly
- Scorch marks, warm sockets or a burning smell
- A major renovation or extension on the way

How a rewire works.
We start with a survey to see the existing installation, agree the new layout with you and put a fixed quote in writing. Most rewires happen in two stages. First fix is when the old cables come out and new ones go in, chased into walls and run under floors. Second fix is when the sockets, switches and lights go on and the new consumer unit is connected.
A typical three bedroom house often takes around a week to ten days, but every home is different and we will give you a clear timescale at the survey. Wherever we can, we keep power on at the end of each day so you can live in the house while we work. Plastering and decorating can be arranged separately once we are finished.

Questions about rewiring.
Can I stay in my home during a rewire?
Usually, yes. We plan the work room by room and restore power at the end of each day wherever possible. If the house is empty, the job is quicker.
How much mess does a rewire make?
There is some dust from chasing walls and lifting floorboards. We sheet down, clean up every day, and leave the house ready for plastering.
Do I need to tell building control?
A rewire is notifiable work. As an NICEIC Approved Contractor we notify building control for you and you receive a compliance certificate.
Will I need to redecorate?
Some making good is normally needed where cables are chased in. We can recommend a plasterer or work alongside yours.
Do you rewire flats as well as houses?
Yes. We rewire flats, maisonettes and houses, and work with managing agents where the building needs it.
