An electrician installing equipment in a home

Solar panels and battery storage.

Generate and store more of your own electricity. Inverters, batteries and the electrical connections they need, installed safely and certified to BS 7671.

Use more of the power you make.

Solar panels produce most of their power in the middle of the day, when many homes are using very little. A battery stores that surplus so you can use it in the evening, and can also charge on cheaper overnight tariffs in winter.

Batteries can be added to an existing solar system or installed on their own. Either way, the electrical side needs to be right: the inverter, isolation, protection and connection to your consumer unit all have to be designed and installed to current regulations.

Is solar or a battery right for you?

  • A roof with good sun and little shading
  • High daytime use, such as working from home
  • An existing solar system with no battery
  • An EV, heat pump or electric heating to run
  • A time of use or overnight electricity tariff
  • Plans for a new consumer unit or rewire anyway

What's included.

Inverters

Hybrid and battery inverters sized for your system and your supply.

Battery storage

Home batteries mounted in a safe, suitable location with the right protection.

Consumer unit checks

Your board checked for space and suitability, and upgraded if needed.

Isolation and protection

AC and DC isolators, surge protection and clear labelling.

Network operator notification

We notify UK Power Networks of the new generation or storage on your behalf.

Tested and certified

An Electrical Installation Certificate for the new circuits.

Export payments and paperwork.

If you want to be paid for electricity you export under the Smart Export Guarantee, energy suppliers usually require the installation to be MCS certified. Requirements vary between suppliers and change from time to time, so ask us at the survey and we will tell you how your installation would be certified before you commit.

Every system connected to the grid has to be notified to the local network operator, and larger systems need approval before they are connected. We check this early so there are no surprises, and hand over a full set of certificates and manuals at the end.

Accredited and approved.

NICEIC Approved Contractor (registration no. 609893000), SafeContractor approved, and ECS-carded electricians on every job.

Questions about solar and batteries.

Can I add a battery to my existing solar panels?

Usually, yes. Depending on your existing inverter, the battery may connect alongside it or need a hybrid inverter. We check what you have at the survey.

Can I have a battery without solar panels?

Yes. A battery can charge on a cheap overnight tariff and power your home during the day, which can work well on its own.

Will I get paid for the electricity I export?

Smart Export Guarantee payments usually need an MCS certified installation. Ask us at the survey and we will explain how it would apply to your system.

Where can a home battery go?

Garages, utility rooms and outside walls are common. Manufacturers and current guidance restrict some locations, so we will recommend a safe position.

Do I need to tell the network operator?

Yes. Solar and batteries must be notified, and larger systems need approval first. We handle this for you.
