Sports hall LED lighting upgrade, St Columba's, Bexleyheath

The brief.

St Columba's Catholic Boys' School in Bexleyheath needed to replace the ageing fluorescent lighting in its sports hall. The old fittings were costly to run, slow to maintain at height and gave uneven light across the courts. The work had to be finished during the school holidays, so the hall was ready for the new term.

What we did.

• Removed the old fluorescent fittings from the sports hall ceiling
• Installed 16 LED high bay fittings across the hall for even, bright light on every court
• Zoned switching, so staff can light only the part of the hall in use
• Upgraded the emergency lighting to cover the hall and its exits
• Worked safely at height from a tower scaffold over the sports floor
• Completed the whole job during the school holidays, with testing and certification at handover

The result.

A brighter, more even sports hall ready for the new school year, with lower running costs, far less maintenance at height, and emergency lighting the school can test and record with confidence.
