Home EV charger installation, Crayford
A smart home EV charger fitted on the side of a house in Crayford, on its own dedicated circuit, placed so the car charges easily on the drive.
The brief.
The homeowner had an electric car and wanted to charge it at home overnight instead of relying on public chargers. The best spot was the side wall next to where the car parks, so the cable would reach the charge port without trailing across the path.
What we did.
- Checked the incoming supply and consumer unit could take the charger's load
- Ran a dedicated circuit from the consumer unit to the charger, with the correct protection
- Mounted an Ohme smart charger on the side wall, at a height that is easy to use
- Fitted a holder so the tethered cable is stowed neatly when not in use
- Set the charger up so the owner can schedule charging for cheaper overnight rates
- Tested the installation, issued the certificate and registered the charger with the network operator
The result.
The car now charges on the drive overnight, on a smart charger that can follow the cheapest tariff, with a neat, safe installation that is fully certified.
